About NINC

NINC is located in the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health’s Koerner Laboratories at UBC Hospital. The NeuroImaging and NeuroComputation Core (NINC) manages and provides support to the community to make the most of advanced microscopy and imaging systems as well as high performance computing infrastructure.


Our Principles

Our aim is to maximize the use of our imaging and computational resources to benefit the DMCBH community.

NINC resources are available to all NINC member labs on a first come, first serve basis.
NINC member labs pay an annual fee for access, training and consultation.

Under the leadership of Dr. Kurt Haas and Dr. Tim Murphy, NINC is an important hub serving the UBC neuroscience community. By leveraging the centre’s expertise in experimental design, technology development, quantitative and automated data analysis and advanced imaging and microscopy techniques, we’re advancing basic science research and accelerating the process of discovery.

NINC provides opportunities to foster connections both within the neuroscience community and outside of it, creating interdisciplinary links between researchers in neuroscience, physics, engineering, math and computer science.

NINC Membership

NINC Membership is required to access NINC resources.

If your lab needs NINC membership please contact Daphne Druick in DMCBH Administration (ddruick@mail.ubc.ca) and cc Jeffrey LeDue (jledue@mail.ubc.ca) to arrange payment of membership fees.  The current fee for UBC affiliated labs is $2780 per year.  Fees for users external to UBC will be assessed depending on project needs.  Please use our intake form here.  Training sessions and consultation about computational problems and data analysis are included in the NINC membership fee and supported by the Dynamic Brain Circuits cluster.   • Consultation regarding experimental design with attention to techniques, data management and analysis.
  • Support for in-house prototyping of new instrumentation and technology including assistance in design and fabrication including 3D printing.
  • Support for in-house development of data analysis pipelines to enable high throughput, automated workflows.
  • Provide access and training to advanced imaging and light microscopy equipment including: multiphoton microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging, in vivo imaging, live cell imaging, etc.
